Skills for the Workplace: Health & Social Care (CertHE)

This Certificate of Higher Education course is designed to give you the tools to apply and transfer your skills into the workplace. It will give you the confidence to anticipate problems and find solutions; work independently and with other people; and plan things out before you start and complete the things that you’ve started. Course Overview

This program will equip students for various job opportunities in the public and private health and social care environment with a focus on adult and child care, for instance, residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, clinical health settings and daycare centres. Students will be able to take up roles such as Care Assistant, Family Support Worker, Community Worker and Teaching Assistant.

The programme is specifically created in its content and flexible delivery to give you the confidence to anticipate problems and find solutions, to work independently and with other people, to plan things out before you start and complete the things you’ve started, in short, to develop the skills that employers want!

All of the teachings are project-based, linking theory with practice and ensuring that each module is contextualised within real workplace situations and challenges.

Classes are held 2 days per week.

This programme is specifically focused on employability, ensuring that students are able to use workplace experiences to inform their studies throughout each module.

Explicit outcomes include the creation of digital portfolios, through which students can demonstrate their understanding of key skills, theories and methodologies for use at interview and to secure career progression.
